But just how long will it take to sail from Falmouth to the Scilly Isles?

It can take between six to twelve hours to sail from Falmouth to the Scilly Isles, but it will entirely depend on factors including weather and tide. If you do the trip on our sailing holiday we may stop over for the night at the beautiful Helford River on the way. The total distance to the islands is approximately 55 nautical miles.

If you decide to sail by yourself and not on a First Class Sailing holiday, please be aware of the tidal currents in the area, as they can be strong and even unpredictable. Make sure that you plan your Falmouth to Scilly Isles journey around the tides. The prevailing wind is from the southwest so chances are you will be sailing into it for some/most of the passage there. But with any luck will have a flying sail back.
