First Class Sailing is thrilled to announce an exciting and enriching opportunity for young adventurers to embark on a residential at sea as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. Set aboard the iconic 1908 classic yacht, Golden Vanity, this programme promises a perfect blend of adventure, teamwork, and skill development.

Understanding the significance of diverse and challenging experiences in shaping the personal growth of students, First Class Sailing has curated a program that not only aligns with the values of the Duke of Edinburgh Award but also offers the chance to achieve an RYA Competent Crew qualification, and complete the National Historic Ships UK, Traditional Seafarer Introductory Course simultaneously.

Key Highlights of the Program:

  1. Historic Sailing Experience:

Participants will sail aboard the iconic Golden Vanity, a 1908 classic yacht with a rich history. Originally crafted for renowned artist Arthur Briscoe, the yacht has hosted notable figures, including ‘Riddle of the Sands’ author Erskine Childers.

  2. Life Skills Development:

The residential at sea encourages teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving as students navigate the challenges of life on the water.

  3. Character Building:

Living and working together at sea fosters resilience and instils a sense of responsibility – key elements of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

Charlie Tulloch, Principal of First Class Sailing said, “We are thrilled to offer young individuals a transformative experience aboard Golden Vanity. Our programme not only aligns with the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award but goes beyond, providing a unique blend of adventure and skill development that will leave a lasting impact.”
