Spinnaker Up and Speed is Good for St Lucia

The wind is up but time will be tight for getting into St Lucia for the 11th December, but Challenger 2 is back on track and heading for the Caribbean. Here’ is Skipper Ricky’s latest observations…
Spinnaker is up after a slow time teaching hoist with all crew on deck. Boat speed is great (7.5 knots)
Crew are in good spirits and the rig is still good. Gary did a rig check and everything is as it should be. We repaired another mainsail baton luff box and checked the others. There is one retaining half nut which is damaged and won’t tighten. But it won’t loosen and come off either so we have left it in place. Doubtless there will be more to repair/replace during the voyage.
Engine is peaceful and quiet now and crew are much happier without the noise and additional heat.
Our visiting Egret, wife of Arnold, has flown off doubtless to become fish food or maybe visit Challenger 1 and be murdered cold heartedly murdered like his unlucky mate. 🙁
Kind regards
Ricky Chalmers, Skipper, Challenger 2
