Paradise in the Norwegian Fjords

Spot our mast!

Day 3 of Sailing in Norway – 12th June

We slipped our lines about 9am, no sign off life from the shop or anyone else in the sleepy village so no point waiting to get fresh bread and milk!

Today passage took us to Vik another 20nm further up Sognefjord. The further we went the higher, snowier and more dramatic the scenery. Sam our Norwegian speaker after a few phone calls got us on a small quay in the centre of the town tying up just after lunch.

Most of us went for a hike around town and some more adventurous took the 9km trail in the hills. We all however visited the stave church, one of about 23 remaining medieval wooden churches left and funny enough all the crew ended up in the only bar in town for a well earned beer!
