Jamie Oliver eat your heart out!

A roast bacon joint, roast and boiled potatoes, green beans and carrots plus lovely gravy polished off with steamed pudding, custard and a glass of Macon.

When we joined Kingfisher we were shown a copy of the menu we thought mmmmmmph. Must be pre packed meals, then we noticed recipes for each meal attached to the menu: Thai Chicken Curry, Pork Escalope’s, Beef Casserole, Fresh Soups and on our final evening a Roast Dinner.

During a bright, cold and exhilarating week of sailing we enjoyed fresh soups at lunchtimes and superb evening meals in our warm saloon.

With just two gas rings and a tiny oven (and judicious use of a steamer) our skipper showed us how to produce a roast dinner. There is no reason why you have to use ready meals he said and how right he was! After a superb day of sailing we would sit down to a lovely hot meal with fresh ingredients and even served on warmed plates…Bliss.
