Notes and comments:

Halfway fancy dress party today !

Midnight gybe again to get us on the Northern (280) Gybe. Better speed, better swell angle and better course. We have got down to Challenger 1’s Latitude so it will be interesting to see whether they have overtaken us, or headed further South.

Best comment so far …”I cant steer by the stars, they swing about too much”.

Fancy dress costume construction underway…Festive drinks in the freezer getting cold !

Mates Blog

We are now 11 and a half days into our crossing, 1856 miles completed with approximately 1001 to go!

Today has been a little different from most of our other days at sea.  It all started off as normal with breakfast and watch routines rotating, people arising from sleep wondering what meal will be next or which day it is.

On deck clouds could be seen marching in from behind, water falling from them causing the gap between sea and sky to darken and look at least a little foreboding!

Shower, au naturel, before the party

As the winds increased and changed direction the rain caught up with us, we rode it out in our usual cool fashion but with the excitement and the heat of the day somebody(ies..) somewhere decided it would be best to enjoy the fresh water rinse falling from above.  Before an eye was blinked clothes were off and stashed to keep them dry and scantily clad bodies littered the deck soaking up a rare and refreshing treat.

Although a little over half way, today was the day for our half way party.  Baz and Clive did a great job of preparing a buffet lunch with some home made treats thrown in by Christine and Ricky.
Ricky kicked off the celebrations by appearing on deck in his DIY fancy dress costume soon to be followed by a whole host of entertaining outfits!
The mid day sun and large following seas made for an unusual backdrop for a fancy dress party on our little boat bobbing around in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
