It’s a race and it’s about to begin!

ARC 2016 excitement is building for both the crew and those of us willing them on from home or work. You can following every move of Challenger 3 and her main competitors Challenger 2 and Challenger 4 using this tracking device.

All yachts in the ARC Rally are tracked using the Yellowbrick tracker. It works anywhere on Earth and ‘wakes up’ every 15 minutes to obtain a position using the GPS satellite network and then transmits that position back to an online map, which you will be glued to for the next two weeks.

Tips for Using the Map

As you can see in the map above the best tip is to favourite the ships you are following. Once we are three days in you’ll find that the ships have become surprisingly widespread and if you have the three Challengers favourited you’ll be able to find them quickly.

For those familiar with Google Maps then the map will be quite familiar. The tools across the top are worth studying as they can help you swiftly move to highlighted areas in the race.

After a couple of visits, you’ll be an old hand and spending many happy ‘tea breaks’, early morning and late evening watching the FCS crew’s progress.
