The Atlantic Rovers Return to the Sea

Having filled their boots ashore the FCS crew have returned to the sea, or in this case the English Channel and have their sights on Portsmouth. Still time to blog and also regale us with a ditty they composed during said boot filling sessions…

Day 23 Friday February 2018
Date: 2nd February 2018
Time: 14.45 GMT
Position: 50.08.44 N, 4.11.75 W
Destination: Weymouth

Enroute now to Weymouth with a friendly sea and a healthy wind. We should be there by the early hours of Saturday morning.

We had a good run ashore in Falmouth and spent a fair bit of time in the Chainlocker Inn putting the world to rights. At one point we had a good sing-along to this little ditty

Sailing the Atlantic (with apologies to the Wild Rover)

Chorus: And it’s no, neigh, never. No, no, never no more. Will I sail the Atlantic. No never no more.

There once was a boat called Challenger Two
Who sailed from Antigua out into the blue.
Her crew was the finest that ever was born
And her hold was so full of that “£%^&*&^ sweetcorn

Chorus…

Her skipper was Neil a man bright and bold
Who liked herbal tea or so I am told
He searched for a helmsman who could keep it straight
But sadly for that he will just have to wait

Chorus

Now Nick was the mate of Challenger two
And he wrote all those blogs about me and you
One thing that he needed to stay the course
Was a jolly big bottle of Worcester Sauce.

Chorus…

Our watch leaders Leo and Steve were the best
Who never knew when to give it a rest
Steve liked to chat and Leo to smile
We will remember them both for a very long while

Chorus…

So here’s to a legend that is the crew
Fill up your mugs of that herbal brew
Think of the times we were at sea
And just how difficult it was to pee

Chorus…

Howard
