Kite flying

The lack of wind since leaving Mindelo has been replaced by north easterly force 4 everyone is happy, engine off and spinnaker is flying and white horses with the increasing breeze.
The new watch system is starting to work after initial bugs (waking up the wrong persons!) The system also ensure that people are rotated with different partners as part of the 3 watch system.
Since the last entry Steve hooked a yellow fin tuna. Timing was perfect for Peter to produce an evening feast of seared tuna steak and chips with side order of lemon cured fillet.
Flying fish are making more regular appearances, often flying in small flocks away from the bow wave. Small whales have also been sighted lazily breaching and spouting just off the stern. We are hopeful for some closer encounters soon. An Egret? was a more unusual visitor hitching an overnight ride, let’s hope it finds its way back to Africa.
A fairwell to fond shipmates
Finally, a few of us didn’t have the chance to say goodbye to those leaving us in Mindelo. During our short time together we learned much about each other with much humour, stories and insight into our reasons for being here. Our backgrounds, ages and nationalities are varied. We have all been bought together by the challenge of the ocean and life on board. Wish you were here guys, looking forward keeping in touch and hope you keep an understanding eye on our progress. Sorry we could not see Popeye at the helm.
Bon Voyage
Alan.
