Sharp squalls and sudden lulls – update from Skipper Sue
1,367 views | January 10th, 2020Short report, keyboard & mouse won’t stay still. We prepped early for the blow that we knew was coming, complicated somewhat by sharp squalls and sudden lulls in the early hours. Top gust so far 45kts. The wind has now settled to a steadier 33kts ish, gusting high thirties at times.
The sea state has built to rough & the cockpit fills several times a watch, creating a paddfling pool for our entertainment. The sensible ones have wet weather trousers on, the rest of us have wet pants.
Current plan based on the gribs is to continue to make best progress north(ish), and hopefully pop out of the top of this weather system on Sunday. There are some big grins on faces and a general relief that mother watch has been abandoned for the day.

Lively conditions
