The sailing courses, provided by our experienced and friendly instructors, cater for all levels of ability and experience - whether you are a complete novice or an ocean sailor.

Aspiring sailors of Germany can gain easily attend a First Class Sailing course to obtain a highly sought after RYA (Royal Yachting Association) sailing qualification.

The sailing courses are provided by our experienced, patient and friendly instructors who are used to dealing with a wide range of abilities. So whether you are a total novice or have many miles of experience come and join us.

Select from both practical and theory sailing courses to ensure you learn everything you need when it comes to learning how to control your yacht. Courses vary from week-long on-board practical courses to one day specialist courses so you will find exactly what you are looking for at a level which suits you.

RYA Yacht Sailing Courses all fall under the RYA ‘Cruising Scheme’. There are 3 categories of courses:

Shorebased navigation theory classes. These can be taken online from anywhere in the world or in a classroom.

Practical Sailing Courses. These take place on a sailing yacht. Accommodation and food is all included on board.

One Day Supplementary courses. For Example Sea Survival, Diesel Engine Maintenance, VHF (SRC) Radio, First Aid.

Language

A large percentage of our customers have English as a second language. A great many of our customers come from abroad and have English as a second language. We are used to dealing with customers from a wide range of countries and many Germans that live and work in London as well as those that live in Germany come to take our courses.

You will need to speak and understand English to participate in these courses, as it is an RYA rule that all courses are conducted by instructors speaking English. Don't worry if it isn't perfect though! We're used to working with sailors from a wide range of countries.

Practical Sailing Courses and Accommodation

RYA Practical courses run in both Southampton and Essex. Southampton classes take place at Shamrock Quay, SO15 5QL on the South Coast near the Isle of Wight.

Practical sailing courses are always held on our clean, well maintained, modern yachts. Accommodation is on board the yachts and you have the option to stay on board the night before your course starts, for those arriving in the UK from Germany. Courses are 5 days long.

These one day courses are a compliment to the practical sailing courses and take place at various venues in London, usually on Saturdays and Sundays.

Travelling to the UK from Germany for Sailing Courses

Travelling to the UK from Germany for RYA sailing courses is simple. You can fly from one of Germany’s airports (such as Frankfurt or Munich) directly to any London Airport to take a London based courses.

The easiest route to our Southampton base is to fly to London and travel to Southampton via hire car, coach or train. Or fly to Southampton Airport and get a 15/20 minute taxi.

About the RYA Sailing Courses In the UK

As a RYA Recognised Sailing School we use the standard RYAsyllabi as well as RYA qualified instructors. The yachts used have all been checked and are approved as meeting RYAstandards; this means they are safe, well maintained and suitable for use in your sailing classes.
