Benefits of a Luxury Norwegian Sailing Holiday for Couples

This is not only a great, luxury sailing holiday for a couple but also good value for money as you are a guest crew, on a fabulous yacht, surrounded by a magnificent location that changes every hour.

For example you can sail Santosa around the coastlines and fjords of Norway, or over to the Faroe Islands, or down the West Coast of Scotland.

This luxury adventure also benefits couples with mixed skills, or those seeking something at a particular level. There are a variety of legs to this holiday that will match each of your abilities.

As you will see below, a holiday on Santosa gives you excellent sailing in a very comfortable manner.

The price quoted is for a double cabin, with ensuite facilities on a luxury yacht. You can find holidays that cost less however the word luxury is not used in the descriptions.

Plus, on those trips, you can expect the facilities to be shared along with all the duties. On these holidays food and the cooking of it is included in the price and you have your own cabin with ensuite.

With only four guest crew members it is easier for the holiday to move at your pace. You are sailing with an experienced skipper and mate and, depending on your knowledge and how much you want to be involved, will be learning as you sail and building upon your miles whilst exploring majestic coastline and fjords.

With every meal prepared for you, this is definitely a difference to most sailing holidays where crews are divided into watches and duties shared.

If you are sailing as a couple, another thing you won’t be sharing with other crew members are the sleeping areas and heads.

These cabins are very well presented and your ensuite has all the facilities you’d expect from a hotel at sea.

Unlike standard sailing holidays, when it comes to crewing the boat you can do as much or as little as you like, making this perfect for couples who have different ambitions and expectations.

While one of you might want to be energetic, the other can take a well-earned break from modern life and enjoy the scenery and company.

Launched in 2017 Santosa is a 55ft (16.7m) steel ketch of Bruce Roberts design. With her high latitude rig, she has been built with these sort of waters in mind while providing an exclusive and luxurious experience.

From the cockpit, you come down into a spacious and sociable coach house with a raised saloon area offering panoramic views, leather seating and a dining table. To starboard, there is an indoor helming position (lovely when chilly outside!) and a navigation area.

Aft of this area you step down into two luxury en-suite cabins, one each side of the boat. Plenty of storage is offered and a wardrobe.

The en-suite has a power shower with seating, heated towel rail, and electric flush heads. The cabins also have heating, aircon, and blackout blinds which come in to their own when faced with 24 hours of sunlight in the Lofoten Islands.

Santosa has heating, air conditioning, hot water, and a water maker.

From the Faroe Islands to the Norwegian fjords you’ll have epic scenery, majestic coastlines, and very welcoming ports and harbours.

You’ll also have the fresh arctic air filling your lungs, the peace of the lifestyle and quiet of being away from modern life.

This is certainly a holiday to fill the senses, recharge the batteries and return home with a feeling of having accomplished something more than just a holiday.

With the luxury surroundings on board matching the view out of the window, there will be many happy memories for you both to share over the following years.

Santosa is sailing from Southampton in the UK up to Norway, across to the Faroes, then down to the West Coast of Scoltand then down through the Irish Sea around Lands End and to Falmouth.
