Shorebased Day Skipper Theory Course

 

If you have not done a navigation course then more than likely the course for you will be the Shorebased RYA Day Skipper Theory Course.  It is suitable for people with a wide range of sailing experience but none or very limited actual navigation experience.  At the same time the course is also suitable for you if you have done little or no sailing.

 

The Day Skipper theory course will teach you the navigation skills required to skipper yacht.   The course is all classroom based.  We will teach all the theory of navigation (including use of GPS and electronic charts), meteorology, collision regulations and safety needed to skipper a yacht.  Click here for the syllabus.

 

 

Ideally the Day Skipper theory course should be followed by a Day Skipper Practical course aboard one of our yachts. On completion of the practical course you will be qualified to charter and skipper a yacht. You may need to take a practical Competent Crew course before taking the Day Skipper practical course.
