Learn to Skipper a yacht at Work!
We currently run RYA Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper Yachtmaster Offshore and Yachtmaster Ocean Theory Courses at over 40 of the most prestigious firms in London
If you work for a large company we can run a course in the evenings at your workplace. Your office does not have to be in London as we have instructors based all over the country.
If you initiate a course, your place will be half price or maybe even free!
Running a course is usually just a matter of checking a room is available and then placing one of our flyers on your intranet. We do all the organising and administration. There is no cost to the company, unless they wish to subsidise it.
The courses are all classroom based. The RYA Day Skipper theory course assumes little or no prior experience of sailing a yacht. We will teach all the navigation theory (including use of GPS and electronic charts), meteorology, collision regulations and safety needed to skipper a yacht.
Ideally the theory course should be followed by a 5 day practical course aboard one of our yachts. On completion of the practical Day Skipper course you will be qualified to charter and skipper a yacht. It may be that you need to do a 5 day Competent Crew course before the Day Skipper practical course depending on your previous experience.
Coastal Skipper Yachtmaster Offshore theory course is more advanced and assumes you have done or have a knowledge to Day Skipper theory level.
Yachtmaster Ocean theory course teaches you how to you a sextant and assumes you have done or have a knowledge up to Coastal Skipper Yachtmaster Offshore theory.
Day Skipper theory courses take place over 7 weeks (1 evening a week) and 1 weekend.
Coastal Skipper Yachtmaster Offshore theory and Yachtmaster Ocean theory courses take place over 8 weeks (1 evening a week) and 1 weekend.
Evenings are 6pm to 10pm, the weekend 10am to 5.30pm.
If 1 or 2 evenings are missed, it is still possible to complete the course.
If you would like us to offer the above course at your workplace, we just need to agree the dates and then post the details on your Intranet!
Courses are usually oversubscribed.
We also hold courses over 2 and 1/2 weekends in London.
