What to Expect
The day will focus will be on the forms, almanac and sight reduction tables; the computational journey from that point of acquiring the celestial object's declination to 'the fix' that is the difficulty for most of us, the right tables, the plusses and the minuses, the variable corrections, the assumed position, the 'to' or 'away' processes. It is assumed you know how to use a sextant.
This one-day course in Southampton is run by an RYA Shore-based instructor, to help students to refine their skills in celestial navigation and plotting. Whether you're preparing for an upcoming trip, simply seeking more information or just enjoy navigating, this course is for you!
