The RYA Competent Crew course is 5 days long, which can be taken either over consecutive days in one go, or it can be split over 2 weekends consisting, one of which will include a Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Competent Crew course<\/a> starts from our Southampton HQ and takes place in the Solent. The course is all about learning to sail and over the 5 days, you will learn all you need to know to become a useful crew member, including how to raise and lower the sails, how to set them correctly to the wind, how to tie a number of useful knots and what to do if someone falls overboard. It\u2019s great fun.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n No previous sailing experience is required to undertake the RYA Competent Crew qualification, but there is a minimum age requirement of 12. It is assumed you will be a complete novice or that you may have done a bit of sailing before. If you are unsure if this is the right course for you either give us a call or have a look at our \u2018Find your Level<\/a>\u2019 wizard.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n With the RYA Competent Crew course under your belt you can then progress to more advanced courses<\/a> such as the RYA Day Skipper<\/a> or Coastal Skipper<\/a> courses.
