And what makes a Marina excel?<\/p>\n<p>These are the questions that surface every time the Yacht Harbour Association&#8217;s Marina of the Year Award comes around.<\/p>\n<p>Having said that the award was only started last year and won by Plymouth&#8217;s Mayflower Marina, an independent marina at the entrance to the River Tamar in Devon.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Even so the award proved very popular and for 2015 they&#8217;re asking for you to vote on 150 TYHA accredited Gold Anchor Marinas. <\/p>\n<p>Could it be the one where you moor your boat? Or is there a particular favourite that caught your eye in 2014.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin:0 auto;border:1px solid #DDDDDD;padding:3px;display:block;\" src=\"\/skin\/firstclass\/images\/shamrock-quay-02-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"size-thumbnail\"><\/p>\n<h2>Shamrock is our Rock<\/h2>\n<p>As we are based at Southampton&#8217;s Shamrock Quay that is the Marina we are voting for, and we managed to grab Charlie between jobs to get his opinion on this venue:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin:0 auto;border:1px solid #DDDDDD;padding:3px;display:block;\" src=\"\/skin\/firstclass\/images\/shamrock-quay-03-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"size-thumbnail\"><br \/>\n<strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The FCS office has been here 7 years, the boats at least 10. We find it a friendly place. Not too spread out and with lots of different small businesses, at one point you could buy original work by Banksy in the gallery.<\/p>\n<p>The yard workers and marina staff are very helpful and there is an excellent caf\u00e9, the &#8216;Yellow Welly&#8217; which sells the best breakfasts on south coast.<\/p>\n<p>The pub is undergoing a much needed refurbishment and if we had one wish for the future it would be an engineer on site.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin:0 auto;border:1px solid #DDDDDD;padding:3px;display:block;\" src=\"\/skin\/firstclass\/images\/shamrock-quay-01-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"size-thumbnail\"><\/p>\n<p>If you want to vote for Shamrock Quay visit  the <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.which-marina.com\/MOTY\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Yacht Harbour Association&#8217;s Marina of the Year Award 2015<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So where would you find the best Marina in the UK?
