Stock up on booze or use the trip to build miles (over 120nm). There is also the opportunity for 2 people (one there, one back) to skipper (overseen by FCS Instructor) their Yachtmaster qualifying passages of over 60nm.
The itinery would be as follows:
Depart Gosport Friday 9.30pm. Arrive Cherbourg Saturday 11.00am (French time).
Day of shopping including the Hypermarket.
Dinner in the evening in a French Restaurant.
Depart Sunday 6am French time.
ETA Gosport Sunday approximately 6pm UK time.
The trip would obviously depend on the weather and the decision to sail or not would be made by the instructor. The boat is a very comfortable and well equipped Swedish Najad 39 with a 100hp engine.
