Make Shamrock Quay Marina of the Year in 2015

So where would you find the best Marina in the UK? And what makes a Marina excel?

These are the questions that surface every time the Yacht Harbour Association’s Marina of the Year Award comes around.

Having said that the award was only started last year and won by Plymouth’s Mayflower Marina, an independent marina at the entrance to the River Tamar in Devon.

Even so the award proved very popular and for 2015 they’re asking for you to vote on 150 TYHA accredited Gold Anchor Marinas.

Could it be the one where you moor your boat? Or is there a particular favourite that caught your eye in 2014.

Shamrock is our Rock

As we are based at Southampton’s Shamrock Quay that is the Marina we are voting for, and we managed to grab Charlie between jobs to get his opinion on this venue:

“The FCS office has been here 7 years, the boats at least 10. We find it a friendly place. Not too spread out and with lots of different small businesses, at one point you could buy original work by Banksy in the gallery.

The yard workers and marina staff are very helpful and there is an excellent café, the ‘Yellow Welly’ which sells the best breakfasts on south coast.

The pub is undergoing a much needed refurbishment and if we had one wish for the future it would be an engineer on site.”
