To use a VHF it is a legal requirement that someone on board must have a VHF Radio Licence.
Obtaining the VHF Radio Licence is simply a matter of attending this 1 day VHF Radio Course and passing the short written test at the end.
The VHF Radio Licence or Short Range Certificate (SRC) is issued with permission by OFCOM through the RYA. On successful completion of the 1 day VHF Radio the RYA send you your VHF Radio or Short Range Certificate. This can take up to 21days. But if you pay £20 (£15 for RYA members) they turn it around for you in 48 hours. (Very useful if you are chartering a yacht imminently!)
Most of our courses are held in London on Saturdays or Sundays. Occasionally, if there is demand, they are held over 2 evenings in peoples' offices.
